Today's lesson was focused on the following body parts: 头 head, 肩膀 shoulder, 膝盖 knees and 脚趾 toes, 眼睛 eyes, 耳朵 ears, 嘴巴 mouth and 鼻子 nose. We sang the "Head, Shoulder, Knees and Toes" song in Chinese and played two games afterwords. The students loved playing those games where we learned not only to respond to the pictures of our body parts but also some of the Chinese characters. As this point, our emphasis would be on listening, speaking and reading Chinese characters. We do have students in this group who are eager to learn how to write Chinese characters. So I will give some instructions on that later, possibly using iPad as an instructive tool.
We also gave each student a Chinese name today. The students were exited about this and insisted to take their names home after class. There's also a one-page handout that the students requested for taking home as their homework. I was impressed by their enthusiasm of learning Chinese!
